The Posture-Pelvic Floor Link
Poor posture creates tension in muscles that directly connect to or affect the pelvic floor. Correcting posture reduces pain and dysfunction.
Common Postural Issues
Anterior Pelvic Tilt: Excessive curve in lower back. Creates constant tension in pelvic floor. Stretch hip flexors and strengthen glutes.
Posterior Pelvic Tilt: Tucked pelvis, rounded lower back. Prevents pelvic floor from functioning optimally.
Forward Head Posture: Head jutting forward. Affects overall spinal alignment and pelvic position.
Correcting Posture
- Align ears over shoulders
- Neutral pelvis (not tilted forward or backward)
- Shoulders relaxed and back
- Core gently engaged
Sitting and Standing
Sit with feet flat on floor, hips and knees at 90 degrees. When standing, engage core lightly and keep pelvis neutral. Take posture breaks every 30 minutes.
