Hypertonic Pelvic Floor Relief
Trigger Point Release Methods
What Are Trigger Points?
Trigger points are areas of muscle tightness that can cause pain locally or refer pain to other areas. The pelvic floor commonly develops trigger points.
Self-Release Techniques
Tennis Ball Release: Place a tennis ball under tight muscles (on the floor, lean gently into it). Hold for 30-60 seconds until you feel release.
Foam Roller: Use a foam roller on glutes and hip muscles (which connect to pelvic floor). Roll slowly, pausing on tender areas.
Manual Release
With clean hands, you can apply gentle pressure to external pelvic floor tissue (the perineal area). This should be painless. Stop if you experience sharp pain.
Professional Techniques
A pelvic floor physical therapist can perform internal myofascial release, which is highly effective for trigger point treatment.
